Big Green Week – Tackling Climate Change
BIG GREEN WEEK 2021 is a national week of events celebrating action on Climate Change in the build up to COP26 in Glasgow. The Curriculum for Wales focuses on developing all the children as ‘ethically informed citizens’ and all classes across the school have been completing a wide range of activities linked to the environment and climate change, and leading to the children making a #PromiseToThePlanet.
Activities across the school have included exploring leaves and learning about trees, building bird feeders and completing bird hunts, litter picks, building bug hotels, cooking with autumnal vegetables, a tree of climate promises, environmental surveys of the school grounds and researching climate change. It has been lovely to see the children’s enthusiasm for this work and the way they have been able to develop their skills across the curriculum whilst learning about the role they can play in tackling climate change.
