Dear Parents and carers,
We hope you have all had a good summer holiday and are ready for the return to school.
With Wales now at alert level zero, the expectation is that schools will operate as ‘business as usual’ so far as is possible and we want to make parents and pupils aware of the arrangements in place to manage risk and stop COVID-19 infection being brought into the school.
In addition to following national guidance, we have worked with the local authority to identify the following measures that will be in place for the safety of pupils at the start of term:
| If your child displays any of the 3 main symptoms of COVID-19 (new persistent cough, fever and/or loss of taste or smell) they should not attend school but should self-isolate, arrange a COVID-19 test and notify the school of this. Where a pupil becomes unwell at school with possible symptoms of COVID-19 they will be sent home immediately to self-isolate and arrange a COVID-19 test. Pupils are no longer required to self-isolate if they are identified as a contact of someone with coronavirus, rather it will be for the Test, Trace and Protect Service to decide what action is needed. If anyone tests positive for COVID-19 or has any of the COVID-19 symptoms they should self-isolate and not attend the school. In the event of a positive test linked to the school, we will work with TTP to update parents and on the situation and what they need to do. |
We will be returning to ‘normal’ school session times from Monday 6th September:
| Breakfast Club | Drop-off will be from 8.00 – 8.30 am at the main school gate Advance booking required via email swyddfa@llanddulas.conwy.sch.uk |
| School gates open 8.45am until 9.00 am |
- We will continue to operate the ‘one-way’ system for dropping off and collecting pupils, and encourage parents to maintain physical distance when waiting outside the school
- We are no longer required to check pupils’ temperatures on arrival at school.
| Foundation Phase pupils will be dismissed from the main gate at 3.10pm; key stage 2 pupils at 3.15pm Nursery will run from 12.45 until 3.15pm |
- Children will continue to hand sanitise on arrival at school.
- We will continue to encourage regular handwashing and respiratory hygiene (Catch it, Bin it, Kill it)
- Staff will continue to wear masks when not able to maintain social distancing
- Meetings will be by appointment only, and all visitors to school will be expected to wear a mask.
- We will have a Foundation Phase Bubble and Key Stage 2 Bubble. We will continue to stagger break times and lunchtimes, however will remove the playground zones.
- We will ensure good ventilation by opening windows and doors or adjusting ventilation systems
Arrangements for PE
- On PE days, children come into school in their PE kits.

These measures will remain under regular review as we move into the new term.
We have also developed contingency plans in the event of an increase of covid-19 cases in the local community. We all hope this won’t be necessary, but should it occur we may be advised by Public health to bring back some more of the safety measures that have been in place previously.
Living with Covid will continue to present a challenge for our school communities, but the partnership between parents and schools has never been stronger. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school if you have any concerns about your child.
We are determined to work together to put our children’s well-being, health, and education first.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming the children on Monday 6th September.
