We were all very fortunate to have a fantastic trip to Nant BH. The children were amazing and their positive attitude and wonderful behaviour made it a very special trip. Well done to all our Nant BH Stars of 2021!
Our 2021 Nant BH stars
First stop after arrival on Wednesday was a trip to the stores to get kitted out with our own set of waterproofs and a fleece – all set for action!
Challenge and adventure
The aim of the trip was to have lots of fun and a great time exploring a range of Outdoor and Adventurous Activities. We were fortunate to work with some amazing instructors at Nant – Chris, Simon, Cheryl and Gerallt.
In all the activities they encouraged the children to work together and develop their independence. Whether it was the dining, the shop or the Zip Wire, the children were encouraged to take responsibility and work things out themselves. it was lovely to see the children supported to challenge themselves, try something new and put themselves in ‘the stretch zone‘. The response from the children was amazing ! They all pushed themselves, tried something new and deserve tremendous credit for their achievements through the week. We saw their confidence develop as the children worked together and showed real resilience and perseverance in overcoming changes on all the activities – to go from ‘I won’t do it’ to climbing up and completing a zip wire run or jumping in to a pool on the gorge walk was a real achievement.
We are so proud of the children for the wonderful attitude they showed and the way they worked together and supported each other!
Ropes course
The ropes course and Zip Wire were a real highlight of our stay at Nant, and provided a great opportunity for the children to have fun and challenge themselves to reach the next level. It wasn’t always easy, but the children persevered and had a fantastic time.
Canoeing
The visit to Llyn Geirionydd was a real adventure with the windy conditions, but the children had a great time and really enjoyed the treat of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallow.
Gorge Walking
The gorge walk in Afon Ddu Gorge was a real adventure after all the recent rain ! A special mention to the two children children who kept going despite loosing a welly in the bottom pool We all had a great time sliding, climbing and jumping in the pools.
Night walk
A special thanks to Chris for an amazing night walk through Gwydir forest following the route of the old mine workings around Nant BH.
Evening activities
Evenings were packed with lots of fun – games room, time in the dorms and a brilliant Scavenger Hunt. We also had a special birthday celebration – many thanks for the cakes ! Highlight of the last night was the visit to the shop – as special thanks to the children who helped run things!
Orienteering
Orienteering on Day 3 was a real challenge and a great chance for more team work exploring the grounds of Nant BH!
Well done to all the children and a massive thanks to all the staff at Nant BH and to Mr Lewis Jones and Miss Webb.
