It was lovely to see Dr Lloyd visit us in school this week. He joined Class 3 to talk all about the Fruits of the Spirits.
Letters to Bishop Gregory
To mark the 400th anniversary of Edmund Prys’ 1621 translation of the Psalms into Welsh, the Bishop of St Asaph gave every church school pupil a special edition of St Johns’ Gospel. The children in Class 4 were delighted to receive this gift, and wrote back to Bishop Gregory to thank him and to tell him what they had learnt about the translation after all their research. They were delighted to receive a letter of thanks from the diocese this week, and to hear how much Bishop Gregory had enjoyed their letters.
Later in the term they are looking forward to a virtual tour of St Asaph Cathedral, and an interactive workshop.
Class 2: Ethically Informed Citizens
Gardening Project: The children in Class 2 have been learning about where their food comes from as part of their work about Fairtrade Fortnight. They discussed the impact it has on our planet when our food comes from afar. Pupils wrote letters to Mr Davies to ask for funding for the project, researched on the internet for vegetables they would like to grow and worked out the cost of the project. The children really enjoyed learning about the functions of each part of a plant and the conditions needed for healthy growth. The children have already harvested some of the vegetables which have been used in the school kitchen.
World Ocean Day: Class 2 have also been learning all about World Ocean Day. They have been learning all about the impact on pollution on the oceans – they used atlases and the internet to locate and name the oceans, and independently wrote their own acrostic poems poems about our World Oceans.
