They have been writing prayers and poems and learning about how poppies are used to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Class 2 also visited the Llanddulas War Memorial and Class 1 developed a Remembrance Garden in their outdoor area. All the classes across the school held 2 minutes silence for a moment of prayer and reflection.
During their evacuation workshop, Class 5 pupils wrote a class poem of remembrance

ECO SENEDD – NO SINGLE PLASTIC USE WEDNESDAY
Miss McIntosh has been working with our Eco Senedd Group this week to look at ways the school can reduce it’s impact on Climate change. All our classes have completed an Eco audit and identified some of the areas we need to work on.
After a litter pick on Friday morning, the Eco Senedd group identified single- use plastic as the biggest cause of litter around the school site. They also looked at the impact of plastic on wildlife and the environment and are now asking for everybody in the school community to help with a No Singe-Use Plastic Wednesday.
Starting this week we are going to look at ways we can reduce our use of plastic around the school, and we need your help! Can you help by using a re-usable drink bottle or having a no waste lunch box or snack with no plastic wrapping?
CREATIVE LEARNING – Class 5 Evacuation drama day
To support our work towards the new Curriculum for Wales, Class 5 had a creative learning and drama day last week. They worked with drama specialist Polly, and all the children came in to school dressed as evacuees!
The children had some wonderful opportunities during the day to work together and to develop their understanding of the experience of evacuees during the war. They created ‘soundscapes’ and then used freeze frame techniques to show different emotions. Thanks to Mr Lewis Jones, the children we also able to develop their IT skills to record short films of evacuation. In the afternoon they developed characters and wrote and performed a class poem for Remembrance Day.
Thank you to the parents for the fantastic support with the wonderful costumes. A special thanks to the children for the way they worked throughout the day! We were so proud of the way they all worked so well together and responded wonderfully to the opportunities to lead their own learning during the drama and film making sessions . It was definitely a very special day for us all!

Using ‘freeze frame’ to capture emotions and feelings of evacuees

Creating characters during a ‘character carousel’ using props to develop the characters
