Welcome back to the summer term.
It’s been lovely to see all the children return back to school this week, and fantastic to see all the classes making the most of the glorious weather.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning has been developing across the school over the last few years. It provides wonderful opportunities for pupils to work together, connect with nature and learn in different ways. There are real benefits for wellbeing, increased physical activity and academic attainment, and it is wonderful to see how much the children have enjoyed the opportunities and developed their skills and confidence.
This year, with our preparation for the new Curriculum for Wales, and the need for safe working with Covid, we have looked to develop opportunities even further. The staff had a brilliant training day with the staff from Nant BH Outdoor Centre, and this week all the classes have been busy outside applying their skills, working together and problem solving.
Next week is Wales Outdoor Learning Week 2021, and all the children will again be making the most of the opportunity to learn outdoors
Hopefully as soon as it is safe to do so, the children will also be out and about in the local area, discovering, exploring, conserving and sharing our amazing local environment.

COVID-19
Thank you for all your continued support with our COVID-19 safety measures, particularly with social distancing at the start and end of the day.
We have received the following guidance regarding COVID -19 from the Health Protection Team
‘People who are experiencing one or more of the three cardinal COVID-19 symptoms (new persistent cough, fever and/or loss of taste or smell) must continue to follow the NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect guidance on testing and isolation and are required to self-isolate with their household whilst they await a test result.’
Please could parents inform school if you child has a COVID-19 test.
Big Pedal – Healthy journeys to school
We had an exciting time last Tuesday with the arrival of our new Cycle Storage shelter from Conwy council. The arrival came just in time for the Sustrans 2021 Big Pedal. Starting on Monday 26th April, we are going to be asking pupils, parents and staff to see if they can travel to school on bikes, scooters or on foot! The aim is to encourage healthy travel to school and reduce congestion and pollution. We realised many of you travel quite a distance to school, so why not park up and scoot, cycle or walk the final part of the journey.
Further details will be following next week, and we hope by then the Cycle shelter will have been fully installed!
