Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you again for all your support over the last term. We hope all our families enjoy a wonderful half term break.
We have got a very busy final half term when the children return, with transition days, trips and special activity days in school. We will also be holding our usual end of term events – although this year the arrangements will be slightly different – Sports Days will take place with the children in their class groups, but I am afraid this year we will not be able to invite parents.
Further details of all the activities will follow after half term.
Class 3 gardening and outdoor learning project
Class 3 have been getting really busy in the garden over the last few weeks, and have have come up with some fantastic designs for the school garden area. After a busy few days working together and tidying up, they came up with their own plans for raised beds. The children have been busy measuring, planning, ordering and researching what to plant. They even calculated the cost of materials and wrote to Mr Davies to ask for funds for the project.
This week the class have been working with Miss Webb to assemble the planters ready for after half term. Again the engagement from the group has been lovely to see, and the project has provided them with wonderful opportunities to develop and apply their skills in real life situations, and develop as ambitious and capable learners in readiness for the Curriculum for Wales.
Class 3 have also been working as ethically informed citizens, and over the last few weeks they have been learning all about the importance of bees to our environment. Today they had the chance to work with Eve from ‘Leaf and Stick’ as part of their ‘Fresh Air Friday’ sessions with Miss Webb. They had a brilliant time outdoors, working together to create a bee friendly garden as part of their work towards the John Muir Outdoor Learning Award. The high point was definitely the seed bombs and making popcorn around the camp fire!
Guitar lessons
We are delighted that Mrs Edge will be returning to join us at school after the half term break. She will be resuming her guitar and violin lessons on Monday 7th June. Any children who were working in her group before Christmas, please remember to bring your instrument in on the first day back.
